In 1993 the specialists of the basic research laboratory at the Chair of minerals separation (Irkutsk State Technical University) teamed up with aim to realize one of the up-to-date process concept of mining and processing industry. In two years the first modular processing plant designed by this team produced its first gold ignot. Later the corporation "SevernayaKoronaAlrosazoloto" was established. In 1999 the brand TOMS, subsequently Sience Research and Design Institute TOMS (NIIPI TOMS), was regestered.
